Our New Super Slow-Motion Camera

By March 10, 2014 Announcements No Comments

We’re always looking for ways to step up our game, and we’ve done it again! We are now the proud owners of a Sony FS700R digital cinema camera. Featuring a Super35 image sensor, it shoots up to 4K at 240 frames per second. Since we typically shoot at 24 frames per second, this means we can shoot footage at 10x slow motion, in-camera, for some amazing visual and dramatic effects. We’ve paired it with the Odyysey7Q external recorder so we can shoot RAW or uncompressed RGB as well! We are really excited about the new shots we will be able to get with our new dedicated slow-motion camera rig!

The photo shows our rig as we were building it: FS700R, 70-200 f2.8L glass, matte box, follow focus, and Odyysey7Q.

6/15/2014 UPDATE: We’ve been using this rig for several months now, and absolutely love it! While we prefer using our Canon cinema cameras for the majority of what we shoot, we still pull out the FS700 on a regular basis, any time we need to shoot at a higher frame rate. Our award-winning commercial “MotoBD” was a good example of something we shot on it.
