BTS: Color Grading Magic

One very important step in post-production is grading. Grading is where we adjust and fine tune the brightness, contrast, hue, gamma, saturation, and sharpness of every single shot.

The amount of grading necessary depends on the original footage and how the final shot needs to look and feel. The style of a shot can be completely changed by grading!

As is standard practice for high-end TV and film production, we always shoot in a “log” color space. This means that the camera records images that are low-contrast, desaturated, and very flat. This gives us much more headroom to grade each shot exactly how we want in post-production without a loss in visual quality. The above video shows some before and after examples of various shots from some of our recent projects!
